Shiftie

Shiftie is UK workforce software for shift-based businesses. It combines rota planning, availability, open shifts, swaps, leave, clocking in, timesheets, staff records, documents and payroll-ready exports. Connections with selected tills and ticketing systems can bring sales or visitor information into labour planning, but it is not a payroll or full HR platform.

Independent perspective

Our review

Shiftie brings rotas, availability, swaps, leave, clocking and timesheets into a straightforward per-employee plan. The recorded offer includes a trial and a rolling monthly agreement, making it easier to assess without a long initial commitment. We see a useful proposition for smaller operators whose scheduling still depends on spreadsheets and repeated manual payroll preparation.

Our main reservation for hotels is the information available to drive staffing decisions. The recorded sales-to-labour workflow relies on a supported till connection, while a PMS feed was not established. Occupancy and arrivals therefore should not be expected to shape the rota automatically. Payroll and HR functions also stop short of a complete payroll or case-management system. The public review search did not locate independent product details.

We would use the trial for a real rota and pay period, including absence, changes and exports. Confirm the supported sales feed and who owns support if it fails. Supplier customer stories are useful prompts for testing, rather than proof of the same saving at every property.

Our verdict

We recommend considering Shiftie where the immediate problem is rota administration and the operator can work with its supported data sources. It is less suited to a hotel needing occupancy-led scheduling or a complete HR and payroll suite. The short commitment makes a practical trial the sensible next step.

The assessment

What stands out

Strengths

Keeps core rota work together. Availability, leave, shifts, attendance and timesheets feed a common workflow instead of separate spreadsheets.

Simple feature structure. The supplier includes its standard functions in one plan rather than reserving useful rota tools for multiple tiers.

Relevant to UK shift teams. Hospitality, attractions, leisure and retail use cases reflect hourly employees, variable demand and site managers.

Can compare labour with demand information. Selected EPOS and ticketing connections can help managers schedule against sales or expected visitors.

Worth knowing

Shiftie is lighter than a full workforce or HR suite. Payroll requires an export rather than a deep native payroll workflow, and recruitment, learning and employee-relations management sit outside its core purpose.

Current independent editorial checks report a minimum charge covering thirty employees. Very small teams should compare the real monthly floor rather than multiplying the headline per-person price by their actual headcount.

The integration list is relatively short and no hotel PMS connection is demonstrated. Hotels wanting rotas driven by occupancy, arrivals or departmental forecasts should establish how that information will reach managers. Independent customer-review coverage remains limited, so use the trial with a real rota and clock-in process.

Operational fit

Where it fits

  • Build and publish rotas using availability, leave and role information.
  • Handle open shifts, swaps and employee schedule access.
  • Capture clock-ins and produce approved payroll-ready timesheets.
  • Compare scheduled labour with sales or visitor data where a supported connection exists.

Best suited for

UK hospitality, leisure and attraction businesses with roughly thirty or more shift workers that want straightforward scheduling, attendance, leave and payroll-ready timesheets.

May not suit

Micro teams affected by the billing floor, businesses requiring native payroll or enterprise HR, and hotels needing occupancy-driven labour forecasting through a PMS connection.
