RMS

RMS is a cloud hospitality platform centred on property management. It combines reservations, front desk work, housekeeping, maintenance, booking engine, channel management, guest services and reporting, with payments and other modules available according to the selected plan. Its scope extends beyond hotels to serviced apartments, parks and longer-stay accommodation.

Independent perspective

Our review

RMS Cloud offers substantial flexibility in accommodation and rates. The recorded demonstration showed nightly, daily and hourly use, derived rates and deposit rules, with rooms and other bookable spaces managed together. Distribution, direct booking and rules-based pricing within the suite can reduce separate subscriptions. We see the strongest value in mixed-use properties and operators with more demanding accommodation rules.

Our main reservation is the cost and effort required to use that depth. The reviewed quotation included per-room pricing, a billing floor and chargeable implementation, with written contract terms differing from the verbal discussion. Full payment automation depended on the supplier’s gateway. The system took more learning than simpler alternatives, and independent feedback included performance and training-to-support concerns.

We would separate the setup project from the daily-use test: build the difficult rate and deposit cases, then let reception handle ordinary arrivals and amendments. Confirm payment requirements, total costs, renewal terms and support handover in writing.

Our verdict

We recommend considering RMS Cloud for mid-sized hotels, mixed accommodation sites and groups that will use its flexibility. It is less suited to a small guesthouse seeking a basic, inexpensive system. The additional depth should justify both the implementation work and the continuing cost.

The assessment

What stands out

Strengths

Broad operational coverage. Core hotel plans combine PMS, housekeeping, maintenance, channel management, booking engine, guest services and reporting.

Genuine multi-property option. The Elevate plan adds enterprise and multi-site management for groups.

Flexible accommodation use. RMS supports hotels, motels, serviced apartments, parks and mixed short- or longer-stay operations.

Large hospitality review base. Reviewers commonly value the booking chart, remote cloud access, channel connections, training environment and access to support.

Worth knowing

RMS has a wide scope, so package and module selection matter. Multi-site management, API access and some operational functions sit in the Elevate plan, while payments and several specialist modules may be optional.

The product uses some terminology and workflows shaped by its broad accommodation market. Hotels should test reception, invoicing, group, housekeeping and accounting routines against their own operation.

Public reviews are positive overall but not uniformly so. Recurring cautions include implementation effort, reporting or interface complexity and the need to configure the system carefully. The review base is weighted towards Australia and New Zealand, with fewer UK reviews.

Operational fit

Where it fits

  • Manage reservations, front desk, housekeeping, maintenance and guest accounts.
  • Combine direct booking and channel distribution with the property operation.
  • Operate several properties through the Elevate multi-site controls.
  • Add payments, events, revenue, owner accounting and other modules where required.

Best suited for

Vendor markets to small hotels through enterprise hotel groups, resorts and serviced apartments. Package choice matters: Accelerate and Elevate address different operational scope.

May not suit

Hotels wanting a very lightweight PMS, operations that need all advanced modules included in one basic price, or UK properties that cannot obtain suitable local references and confirm their required finance, POS and payment workflows.
