Revenue Management

IDeaS G3 RMS

IDeaS G3 RMS is a hotel revenue management system that produces pricing and inventory decisions by room type, rate code and length of stay. It is designed to automate detailed revenue decisions using hotel demand, booking and market information. It supports revenue strategy but does not replace the PMS, CRS or channel manager that supplies and distributes operational data.

Independent perspective

Our review

IDeaS G3 RMS offers detailed forecasting, pricing automation and analysis of group business and alternative demand scenarios. We see its value where a revenue manager needs to judge more than the next room rate: whether to accept a group, how to allocate demand and what the result means for the wider forecast. Its recorded independent evidence is substantial, particularly among larger hotels.

Our main reservation is the fit for smaller operations. The reviewed quotation had an annual minimum that made properties below roughly 85 rooms pay the same floor. Much of the recorded customer evidence concerns hotels with at least a hundred rooms. The product also assumes someone will actively manage revenue; depth alone does not produce a better result. Specific PMS connectivity needs demonstrating at the required level.

We would test the hotel’s real forecasting and group decisions, then compare the complete cost with a simpler pricing tool. Agree setup, training and who owns the decisions after go-live. Implementation complexity should not be confused with daily usefulness for a trained revenue team.

Our verdict

We recommend considering IDeaS for hotels and groups with dedicated revenue expertise and a need for deeper forecasting or displacement analysis. It is less suited to small properties where pricing is somebody’s second job. Its capabilities should earn their cost through decisions the business actually needs to make.

The assessment

What stands out

Strengths

Detailed optimisation. G3 works at room-type and rate-code level and can consider length of stay and different demand patterns.

Established at scale. The product has a large hotel-specific review base and is used by independents, groups and global brands.

Automation reduces routine pricing work. It can take on high-volume rate and inventory decisions while giving revenue teams analytical views and scenario tools.

Strong fit for structured revenue teams. Hotels with sufficient data and clear commercial processes can move from spreadsheet-led pricing to consistent automated decisions.

Worth knowing

G3 RMS is a specialist revenue system, not a general hotel management platform. Its result depends on the quality, history and timing of data received from the PMS and other connected systems.

Implementation and configuration should reflect the hotel's segments, room types, restrictions and commercial strategy. Automation does not remove the need for revenue oversight, exception management and regular performance review.

The product is often a stronger fit for established or more complex revenue operations. Smaller hotels should compare the implementation effort, cost and level of control with simpler RMS options.

Operational fit

Where it fits

  • Automate room pricing and inventory decisions using forecast demand.
  • Optimise by room type, rate code and length of stay.
  • Give revenue teams scenario analysis and consistent decision support.
  • Reduce manual rate-setting across complex hotels and portfolios.

Best suited for

Hotels and groups with enough booking history and revenue complexity to benefit from detailed, automated pricing and inventory controls, particularly where a dedicated revenue team needs consistency across many room types or properties.

May not suit

Very small or new properties with limited data, hotels without an active revenue process, or operations whose PMS, CRS and distribution connections cannot supply the required information reliably.
